Survey Says ....

I just took a survey at Stylescope to find out my decorating style.

I'm Classic, with a touch of New Country.   Funny, I knew that, but I love to see survey results.

I ordered this lamp on-line from Lamps Plus and it arrived today.

It is beautiful.   Even better than the picture.   It has a finely crackled background and the blue is just perfect.   It has gone on the tea wagon.

 I used the lamp shade from the previous lamp as it was a little more traditional and a better colour for my room (a bit off white).   I did have to get a shorter harp so the shade sat lower, but I think it is perfect now.

Good bye brass ..... hello blue and white!

Olive It!

Out with the girls, and we stopped at a shop called "Olive It".

It was a new tasting bar in Whitby, which opened 6 weeks ago.

 They had vats of beautifully flavoured Extra Virgin Olive Oils and Balsamic Vinegars.  There were knowledgable consultants to help, and they gave you small tastings of combinations.

I bought an 18 year old EVO and a cranberry/pear balsamic and a fig balsamic.  

Definitely worth a visit.

West Elm

I am off this week on vacation (stay-cation) and have been running around.   I've never been to West Elm, so I drove downtown to visit.

There was lots of contemporary furniture ... but also lots of furniture and accessories for a more traditional home like mine.

Some of my favs:

A tufted, linen love seat.

Another tufted, linen love seat.

A stack of metal suitcases.

I loved these lights.

They had these black, metal baskets ...but you could drill a hole through the bottom and wire them with an edison light bulb?  They were only $19.95 on sale ... what a steal!
