Cock a Doodle Doo

The clock/barometer I have in the kitchen doesn't work, so I decided to replace it with a rooster weathervane I  had in the basement.
I couldn't find any red ribbon ... but won't he look cute at Christmas with a bow.

Money, Money, Money

My friend and I were walking in Stouffville's century home area  tonight.

We noticed a $10 bill on the ground, then a $20, then more and more.   We collected it all up and then found an envelope with more money.   I noticed that there was an address on the envelope, so we stashed all the bills in and walked to the house.   We knocked but no one was home, so we left the envelope between the screen door and the front door and continued on our way.
Fifteen minutes later a car pulled up beside us, a man jumped out and said "are you the ladies that found the money".   We said we were, and he wanted to thank us with a reward.   We declined.  He wanted to take us for dinner ... we finally settled on a drink on a patio.

After we got seated and ordered a drink, the gentleman thanked us again and then asked if we knew how much money was in the envelope.  We didn't.   He said there was $120,000.00.

SERIOUSLY  $120,000.00.

Maybe we should have at least had an appetizer with that drink!!!!

A new shelf for my quilts

I quilt.   What to do with all my quilts?
I rotate them seasonally, but I only have one on my bed,one on the guest bed and one on a chair in the den, so there are only so many in use at one time.
They have been sitting on the floor in the guest room closet, but today I added an additional shelf to get some of them off the floor.  (the upper shelves already existed)   There is still room under the shelf for a wicker laundry basket that I can store more in.   Just have to find a basket :-)

Better ... they deserve to be up off the floor.

I Feel A New Collection Coming On

Since re-doing my living room and using this beautiful Robert Allen fabric on a chair, I've been looking for some green accessories.
I was out at a new shop this week, Penney & Co., and Michael had just the thing.   Some vintage vases.
I have tried them in my bookcase
and right now they are on my dining room table
I definitely feel a new collection coming on ...

Penney & Co

I had the day off today and drove out to visit Penney & Co, a shop Michael Penney (of Sarah 101 and House & Home fame) recently opened in Whitby.

The front immediately pulls you in.
I was there early.  Michael was at the back but welcomed me, let me wander to my hearts content...  answering my questions and lifting things down for me to take a closer look.
Everything in the shop is fabulous ... both vintage and new.
I mentioned I blogged and he let me snap away and even checked my site out.
I picked up a couple things .... I feel a new collection coming on!!  I'll show you tomorrow.
Really worth the drive ... Penney & Co is at 124 Brock St S in Whitby.
I'll definitely be back.
