Tropical Island ... or Kitchen Island?

OK, as much as I would like to be on a tropical island right now, we interrupt that fantasy to give you an update on what I have been working on since the weekend.

I was at a friend's recently and she mentioned that she wants a kitchen island .... she had tons of tear sheets showing exactly what she wanted.   A little bit country/a little bit shabby chic.
I can do that!!
I keep forgetting to take pictures, but this is how far I've got.  Only a peak though .. it is still under construction. The only thing I've bought so far is 2 2x4s and some nails.
Won't this be the best hostess gift EVER?

Dream Dining Room

I have always thought that Dining Rooms are an incredible waste of real estate.  (Well not always ... I used to love more formality)   But I've evolved.  I currently have a dining room full of beautiful, cherry Queen Anne furniture .... but really how often do I use it?

I saw this room today ... it is Emily Clark's office.

But wouldn't it be a fabulous dining room.

This is exactly how I envision my dining room when I move to a condo.  A wall full of book shelves and a table you can use for dining, crafts, sitting with a book ..... so relaxed. When it's not a dining room, it is a library.   Double duty!    Perfect?

Is it too soon?

To start making a Christmas quilt?

Fan-tastic

When I had the den painted, it emphasized the fake, dark wood appearance of the fan blades.
So I painted them out the same colour as the walls - Natural Linen.
Now they are as fresh as the rest of the room.
Fantastic!
